Golf | Rory McIlroy wins Tour Championship and Fedex Cup

Rory McIlroy has won the Tour Championship and Fedex Cup.

The golfer won the tournament in Atlanta by four strokes, winning the prestigious competition for the second time in four years.

He will pocket around $15 million in prize money, and becomes only the second golfer to win the Fedex Cup twice, following in the footsteps of Tiger Woods.

McIlroy finished with a score of 66 on the deciding day in Georgia to finish on -18, four clear of Xander Schauffele in second place.

World number one Brooke Koepka held the lead heading into the final day - and played alongside McIlroy in the final pairing - and both men started the final round with five straight pars.

However, Koepka endured a nightmare back nine which saw him score three bogies, with the American eventually finishing the round on a score of 72.

Koepka was therefore forced to settle for sharing third place with Justin Thomas as a result.

"My goal today was to go and shoot the lowest score of the week," McIlroy said afterwards.

"I made those two bogeys on 14 and 15 and a huge par save on 16 and then was able to birdie the last two.

"Such a cool way to end what has been for me a great season. I'll look back on this season and there's been a lot of good things I've done and I'll try to improve again for next year."
