Dessie Farrell has stepped down as manager of the Dublin senior football team.
Farrell revealed his decision following the county's 0-23 to 0-16 loss to Tyrone in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-final on Saturday.
The Na Fianna man leaves his role after six years, having been named as Jim Gavin's successor in January 2020. Farrell led the Dubs to All-Ireland titles in 2020 and 2023, but has seen his team eliminated in the quarter-finals two seasons in a row.
"I would have informed the county board at the start of the season that this (year) would be my last," he told GAA+.
"I let the players know, we huddled up in the dressing room afterwards. The time has come; it has come to a natural end. It has been one of the greatest privileges in my life to be involved with this group and the other group of senior teams over the last number of years. Some special people involved, not just players, but in the backroom team, the coaches, and not just at senior level, but in my own career as a coach.
"It has been a true honour with a lot of great memories, a lot of special relationships that I will cherish for a long, long time. Now is a good time to move on."
