Kellie Harrington is an Olympic champion after beating Brazil's Beatreiz Ferreira by unanimous decision in the Olympic lightweight final in Tokyo.
Harrington produced a sensational performance to win amateur boxing's ultimate prize, dominating the second and third rounds after losing the first round 3-2 to Ferreira in a thrilling fight at Kokugikan Arena.
The final scorecards read 29-28, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 in the Dubliner's favour.
After a tough first round against her aggressive 28-year-old opponent, Kellie took control of the second round, taking it 5-0.
The 31-year-old fought at distance, making Ferreira miss and catching the Brazilian with sharp counters.
Another excellent demonstration of her successful hit-and-move tactics saw Harrington finish the third and final round with another unanimous 5-0 score.
Harrington's gold medal triumph sees her follow in the footsteps of Irish boxers Michael Carruth (1992) and Katie Taylor (2012).
