Tokyo 2020 | Harrington overcomes Seesondee to reach Olympic final

Kellie Harrington has beaten Sudaporn Seesondee by split decision to reach the boxing lightweight final at Tokyo 2020.

Harrington triumphed 3-2 on the judges' scorecards after a close fight against her Thai opponent in Japan, securing at least a silver medal in the process.

The 31-year-old edged a cagey first round, scoring success with her powerful left hook.

Seesondee enjoyed more success in the second, but Harrington responded with some good shots with her left.

The Dubliner then came out on top in the decisive third round to book her spot in Sunday's final, where she will face either Brazil's Beatriz Soares or Finland's Mira Potkonen.

Harrington had already guaranteed at least a bronze medal after defeating Imane Khelif in the quarter-finals.
