Euro 2020 | Christian Eriksen collapses during Denmark vs Finland

Christian Eriksen is stable in hospital after collapsing during Denmark's Euro 2020 match against Finland on Saturday.

The match was temporarily suspended before half time after the Danish playmaker collapsed and required CPR on the pitch in the Group B contest at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium.

Referee Anthony Taylor called for the medics as the Denmark players performed a protective shield around Inter Milan playmaker Eriksen. The 29-year-old was then stretchered off the pitch after receiving 10 minutes of medical attention.

"Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable," the Danish FA said.

"He remains hospitalised at Rigshospitalet for further examinations."

UEFA then confirmed that both teams requested to complete the match.

Denmark went on to lose 1-0 to Finland following the game's resumption, with Joel Pohjanpalo netting the game's only goal in the 60th minute. Pohjanpalo headed home Jere Uronen's left-wing cross from eight yards.

Pierre-Emile Hoejbjerg later missed a penalty for the hosts in the 74th minute, condemning Denmark to defeat in their opening match.

The result also means that Finland's first ever match in a major tournament has ended in victory.

Belgium overcame Russia 3-0 in Group B's other fixture.
