Football | Alex Lacazette vies for Arsenal FA Cup triumph

Arsenal's French forward, Alex Lacazette, has intimated that it was far from a perfect season for himself and the north London side, but still clings to the possibility of an FA Cup victory over Chelsea.

Speaking to the clubs official website, the former Lyon striker, spoke of the instability this season has brought, but still sees the potential to finish on a high.

"We had the long stop with corona, we changed the manager, we had a lot of different players who played and didn’t play. It was a bit weird but at the end we are in a final and we just want to win that trophy,” Lacazette said.

Arsenal's eight placed finish means that hopes for their participation in the Europa League hinges on success in their meeting with Frank Lampard's side, who have already secured European football with their 4th place finish. “It was a difficult season, maybe the most difficult of my career. But I know I learned a lot this season mentally and thinking more about the team [rather] than scoring goals when I had my long period without goals. “So I know this season, when we talk about statistics, it is not the best one. But it’s still only one season in my career and I know next season is going to be totally different for me. “I am positive and I am looking forward and I know it’s going to be better.”

Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, will once again be likely to make his plans without the inclusion of Mesut Ozil, who has not lined out for Arsenal since the resumption of of the Premier League in June.

While a back injury has been mooted, there is speculation that Ozil does not currently feature in the Spaniard's plans.

The two sides will line out in the domestic denouement at an empty Wembley Stadium. Kick-off is at 17:30, with coverage on BBC and BT Sport.
