Football | Dundalk qualify for Europa League group stage
Dundalk have beaten KI Klaksvik 3-1 at the Aviva Stadium to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League.
Sean Murray, Dan Cleary and Daniel Kelly scored the goals for the Lilywhites, with Ole Erik Midtskogen getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.
Murray headed Filippo Giovagnoli’s side into the lead in the 33rd minute, before Dan Cleary capitalized on some weak defending to smash home a half-volley from a corner in the 48th minute.
Midtskogen gave Faroe Islands champions Klaksvik hope with a fine strike in the 66th minute, but Kelly put the game beyond doubt with a clinical finish with 11 minutes remaining.
Dundalk, who have become the first Irish side to qualify for the UEFA Europa League group stages twice, will now enter tomorrow's draw for the group stages.
