The FAI has confirmed that all applicants have been awarded licences for the 2020 SSE Airtricity League season, confirming reports that Limerick FC had not applied for a licence.
Limerick, who competed in the First Division last season, were given permission to apple for a 2020 licence by the FAI after the Irish club launched High Court proceedings against the FAI last month.
"The Football Association of Ireland confirms that Limerick Football Club can apply for a licence to compete in the SSE Airtricity League First Division and the underage leagues for the 2020 season," an FAI statement read.
"Following talks with the club this week, the FAI are satisfied that Limerick FC, who trade as Munster Football Club Limited, came out of Examinership on 11 December, 2019.
"The Independent Club Licensing Committee is due to meet next month to assess all applications from Premier & First Division clubs ahead of the 2020 season kicking off."
However, Limerick have opted not to apply for a licence, and thus will not compete at senior level this year.
The Independent Club Licensing Committee and the Independent Appeals Committee to all 10 clubs in both the Premier Division and First Division ahead of the new campaign.
Premier Division clubs Bohemian FC, Cork City, Derry City, Dundalk, Finn Harps, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, Sligo Rovers, St. Patrick’s Athletic and Waterford FC have all been granted licences ahead of the 2020 League of Ireland season.
Athlone Town, Bray Wanderers, Cabinteely, Cobh Ramblers, Drogheda United, Galway United, Longford Town, Shamrock Rovers II, UCD AFC and Wexford FC will compete for promotion from the First Division.
Shamrock Rovers' second team will inherit Limerick's place in the First Division.
The SSE Airtricity League returns on Friday.
