James McClean has been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing after an alleged breach of COVID-19 regulations.

McClean will miss Stoke City's match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday after posting a video to Instagram which showed the Republic of Ireland international boxing with a trainer in a private gym.

"Stoke City can confirm that James McClean has been suspended with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing into an alleged breach of COVID-19 regulations, namely training in a private gym," a club statement read.

"As a result of the suspension, McClean will not be available for selection for Saturday's game against Blackburn Rovers."

The 31-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Potters - who are eighth in the Championship - in all competitions this season.

Last November, McClean tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with the Boys in Green.
