Football | Josh Cullen replaces Harry Arter in Ireland squad
Josh Cullen has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad to replace Harry Arter for Thursday's Euro 2021 play-off semi-final against Slovakia.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Arter has been ruled out of the match in Bratislava after picking up a thigh injury at the weekend.
Cullen, who joined Anderlecht from West Ham on Deadline Day, has won two senior Ireland caps to date but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Boys in Green.
The 24-year-old impressed on loan at Charlton Athletic for the last two seasons and has moved to Anderlecht in pursuit of regular first-team football.
The combative midfielder also tested positive for coronavirus earlier this season, alongside West Ham defender Issa Diop and Hammers manager David Moyes.
Meanwhile, a member of Ireland's backroom staff has tested positive for COVID-19, and two other staff members are isolating as a precaution.
However, all of the players and management team tested negative, and the FAI say they have been given permission to travel to Slovakia.
