Football | Liverpool finding the balance in Europe

3-0 Liverpool, 3 stunning goal sounds, relive each one in 40 seconds here, as Anfield puts on a show in the Champions League quarter-final. Just brilliant. #LFC #LIVMCI pic.twitter.com/RjiuECotjU — Best Goal Sounds (@bestgoalsounds) April 4, 2018 At 3-0, the tie should really be over ahead of next week's return leg. Tuesday's clash at the Etihad will be the real test of Liverpool's improving defence. Can they withstand a City onslaught in Manchester? With City chasing the game, Klopp will be confident that his players can nick an away goal on the counter, which would require City to score five. That said, Mo Salah was withdrawn with what looked like a groin injury, and Henderson will miss out through suspension. Next week will be a great indication of whether Liverpool can shut out the top teams when required. The recent past suggests that the Reds remain fragile and vulnerable defensively at times, despite certain signs of improvement. They cannot get carried away. Should they progress to the last four, they will likely face Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or Barcelona. All three of those European heavyweights possess frightening attacks, and Liverpool (or City) can boas the same, but neither will stand a chance if they don't defend resolutely. However, last night's performance should be Liverpool's European blueprint moving forward. They led Sevilla 3-0 at the break in Spain, but defended poorly and naively after the restart, conceding three in the second half. They were far more compact last night, and it is important for Klopp to find the balance between attack and defence.
