Troy Parrott will miss the restart of the Premier League season after having surgery to remove his appendix.
The 18-year-old Spurs striker was admitted to hospital after reporting abdominal pain in training and is now in recovery ahead of the season's return on June 17th.
However, Parrott will return to club training later in the month of June, according to a club statement from Spurs.
The Republic of Ireland international has made four appearances for Jose Mourinho's side this season, making his Premier League debut as a late substitute against Burnley back in December.
“Troy Parrott has undergone surgery to remove his appendix," a Spurs statement read.
“The young striker was found to have early signs of appendicitis after reporting abdominal pain to our medical staff. He will now undergo a period of recovery before commencing rehabilitation and returning to training later in June.”
Regarded as one of Irish football's brightest talents, Parrott made his senior debut for the Boys in Green in an international friendly against New Zealand last November, two months after his senior Spurs debut against Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.
With Harry Kane's return to fitness following the disruption to the season caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Parrott's first-team opportunities are likely to be extremely limited for the remainder of the season, with Spurs chasing a Champions League spot.
Mourinho's men are currently eighth in the table on 41 points after 29 matches, having played a game more than both Sheffield United directly above them (43 points) and Arsenal just below them (40 points).
