Football | Ronaldo scores 100th Portugal goal

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his 100th and 101st international goals for Portugal.

The 35-year-old, who is now just eight goals shy of Iranian striker Ali Daei's all-time record, bagged both goals in the European champions' 2-0 win over Sweden in the UEFA Nations League.

Juventus forward Ronaldo almost gave Portugal the lead midway through the first half in Stockholm, but his powerful low strike from a Bruno Fernandes corner was well saved by Robin Olsen.

Olsen then made another fine save to keep out a half-volley from the Portugal forward.

Sweden were reduced to 10 men a minute before half time when midfielder Gustav Svensson was shown a second yellow card for a poor challenge on Wolves midfielder João Moutinho.

Ronaldo brought up a century of goals for his country with the resulting free kick, curling a wonderful effort into the top corner from 25 yards and becoming the first European to score 100 senior international goals.

It was the 57th free kick of Ronaldo's career, and his 10th for Portugal.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner doubled his tally in the 72nd minute with another stunning goal.

Bruno Fernandes raked a crossfield ball from right to left after patient possession from Portugal, finding Joao Felix on the left flank.

Felix cut inside and fed Ronaldo, who curled a wonderful strike past Olsen into the far top corner from outside the box.

Watch out Ali Daei, Ronaldo is coming for you.

Portugal are top of Group A3, ahead of world champions France on goal difference.
