Football | Saturday's European qualifiers

There is plenty of action across Europe, in a pivotal day in the qualification campaign for next summer's European Championships.

In Group D, Ireland, who currently sit top of the group, face Georgia in Tbilisi in a game that could define Mick McCarthy's second tenure in charge of Ireland. That game is an early kick-off, while there is another big game in the group when Denmark and Switzerland face each other in Copenhagen.

All 6 teams in Group F are in action. Bottom side Faroe Islands will host Romania, who will be hoping to stay in touch with the top two, Spain and Sweden. Spain have won all 6 games so far, and will be hoping to continue their 100% return, when they travel to Norway, who are still in with a chance of qualifying.

Malta are well adrift on just three points, and host Sweden in Ta'Qali.

The other games are in Group J. Minnows Liechtenstein host Armenia, who are pushing for an automatic spot. One of their rivals for that spot is Finland, who travel to Zenica to face Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are not out of contention just yet.

Greece though, are struggling on just 5 points, and travel to table toppers Italy. Anything but a win for the home side in Rome, would be seen as a complete shock.
