Football | Shamrock Rovers crowned Premier Division champions

Shamrock Rovers have been crowned as the 2020 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division champions.

Bohemian FC's surprise 2-0 home defeat to Finn Harps means the Hoops' lead at the top of the table is now unassailable, with Stephen Bradley's men claiming their 18th league title and their first since 2011.

The Dublin club have collected 38 points from just 14 games, while Bohs have amassed 34 points from 17 matches.

Next up for newly-crowned Rovers is a home clash with Derry City on Wednesday evening.

Finn Harps' victory at Dalymount Park also sees Cork City relegated to the First Division.

The Donegal side collected three crucial points in Phibsborough through a Mark Russell brace. Russell opened the scoring in the 45th minute and doubled Harps' tally six minutes later, before Bohs' Anthony Breslin was sent off in the 74th minute.

Harps also ended the game with 10 men following Leo Donnellan's dismissal five minutes from time.

Ollie Horgan's men are ninth in the table on 14 points, five behind Shelbourne - who have two games in hand - in eighth.
