Football | Watford appoint Claudio Ranieri as new manager

Watford have named Claudio Ranieri as their new manager on a two-year deal.

Ranieri, who has signed a two-year deal at Vicarage Road, takes charge of the Premier League club following the sacking of Xisco Muñoz on Sunday morning.

Muñoz was sacked after Watford's 1-0 defeat to Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday. Watford are currently 15th in the table having collected seven points from as many matches this season.

Ranieri, who won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016, left his previous role as Sampdoria manager in the summer.

Incredibly, the Italian is the Hornet's 13th different permanent boss since the Pozzo family took charge in 2012.

Ranieri will be joined by assistant Coaches Paolo Benetti and Carlo Cornacchia and fitness coach Carlo Spignoli at Vicarage Road.

Watford's next Premier League fixture will see them host Liverpool on October 16th.
