Football | Wes Hoolahan shortlisted for League Two Player of the Season
Updated: Sep 19, 2022
Wes Hoolahan has been shortlisted for the 2020/21 League Two Player of the Season award.
The 38-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign for promotion-chasing Cambridge United, scoring five goals and providing a creative spark for the League Two leaders.
'Wessi', who won the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for January, is three years older than Cambridge manager Mark Bonner.
Former Republic of Ireland international Hoolahan is joined on the three-man shortlist by 'U's' teammate Paul Mullin - who is the league's top scorer on 29 goals - and Forest Green Rovers forward Jamille Matt.
Irish striker Eoin Doyle won the award last season for his standout displays after netting 26 goals in 28 games for Swindon Town.
The EFL Awards will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Thursday evening.
