Rugby | Ireland claim comfortable bonus-point win over Scotland

An impressive 80 minute performance from @IrishRugby 💪 Rory Best leaves the field feeling positive - “We’re delighted with that win.” #RWC2019 #IREvSCO #RWCYokohama pic.twitter.com/Ya6KRfEkHN — Rugby World Cup (@rugbyworldcup) September 22, 2019 Substitute Jack Carty got on the scoresheet with a 68th-minute penalty, and Ireland saw the game out comfortably, despite losing Tadhg Beirne to the sin bin for a needless yellow card offence. The only negatives were the first half injuries to Bundee Aki and Peter O'Mahony - who both had to be withdrawn - but Schmidt will be hopeful that the influential duo will be fit in time to face Japan in six days time. Both Aki and O'Mahony failed head injury assessments, and were replaced by Conan and Chris Farrell respectively. All in all, an excellent morning's work from Ireland. Next up is hosts Japan, with a potential quarter-final meeting with South Africa on the horizon should Ireland top Pool A as expected. Bring it on.
