Leicester City have announced Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager.
The Dutchman, who oversaw two wins against the Foxes during his recent spell as Manchester United's caretaker manager, replaces Steve Cooper at the club.
Cooper was sacked after just five months following Leicester's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
“I’m proud, I’m excited," van Nistelrooy told the Leicester website.
"Everybody that I speak to about Leicester City Football Club is enthusiastic. They have great stories about the quality of the people working at the Club, the supporters and, of course, the recent history of the Club is impressive. I’m excited to start and to get to know everyone and give everything I can for the Football Club.”
Van Nistelrooy, 48, joined United as an assistant coach in the summer. The 48-year-old took charge of the Red Devils for four matches after Erik ten Hag's dismissal, but was not included in new manager Ruben Amorim's background team. The former United striker also managed PSV in the 2022/23 season, winning the Dutch Cup with the Eredivisie side.
Leicester are 16th in the Premier League, two points above the relegation zone. The Foxes have picked up 10 points from their opening 12 league matches.
