Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle have qualified for next season's Champions League after a dramatic final day of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland found the net as Man City beat Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage to seal third place in the top flight behind champions Liverpool and Arsenal in second. The Gunners secured second place with a 2-1 away win over Southampton. Ben White and Martin Odegaard found the net for Mikel Arteta's team either side of a Saints goal by striker Ross Stewart.

Chelsea finished fourth, two points behind City, with a crucial 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Defender Levi Colwill grabbed the game's only goal in the 50th minute. Defeat means Forest finish seventh and miss out on the Champions League. Nuno's side, who will compete in the Europa League instead, finished just one point outside the Champions League places.

Newcastle suffered a shock home defeat to Everton. Carlos Alcaraz decided the match with a fine header in the 65th minute to ensure a nervy wait for Newcastle, who eventually finished above Aston Villa on goal difference, which was enough to claim the final Champions League spot.

There was heartbreak for 10-man Aston Villa, who were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was sent off for Unai Emery's visitors just before half time, and Morgan Rodgers' goal was controversially ruled out by referee Thomas Bramall with the game still scoreless. Late goals from Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen (penalty) secured a home win for Ruben Amorim's struggling side, who end the season in 16th place. A point would have been enough for Villa to finish above Newcastle, given the Magpies' aforementioned defeat to Everton.

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Merseyside before Reds captain Virgil van Dijk lifted the Premier League trophy in front of a jubilant Anfield crowd. Ismaila Sarr gave Palace a first-half lead with a tidy finish, but Premier League top scorer Mohamed Salah volleyed home a late equaliser for Arne Slot's men, who were reduced to 10 men when Ryan Gravenberch was shown a red card in the 68th minute.

Spurs, fresh off their Europa League final triumph last week, lost their 22nd league defeat of the season in a 4-1 home defeat to Brighton. Ange Postecoglou's men will also compete in next season's Champions League due to that victory over Manchester United in Bilbao, despite finishing just one place above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Antoine Semenyo bagged a brace as Bournemouth beat relegated Leicester City 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium, while Ipswich Town were beaten 3-1 at home by West Ham United. James Ward-Prowse, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus plundered the goals for West Ham, with Nathan Broadhead scoring the hosts' solitary goal.

Finally, Wolves and Brentford shared the spoils at Molineux in a 1-1 draw. Bryan Mbeumo capped off a fine season with a goal for Brentford before Marshall Munetsi drew Wolves level.
