Andy Moran is set to be announced as the new Mayo manager.
The county legend, who won eight Connacht SFC titles with Mayo, is set to be ratified at a county board meeting next week. Moran's former Mayo teammate Colm Boyle and Paddy Tally will form part of the Ballaghaderreen man's background team.
Since retiring, Moran has managed Leitrim and formed part of the coaching team at Monaghan. He replaces Kevin McStay, who led the Connacht county for three years. McStay stepped back from his role in May due to health issues, with Stephen Rochford stepping up to take over on an interim basis as a result.
"Mayo GAA is to seek ratification of Andy Moran as the new Mayo Senior Football manager at the next meeting of the Mayo GAA County Board," a county statement read.
"Mayo GAA would like to confirm that the process to appoint the next Mayo Senior Football Manager has now concluded. Following a comprehensive and robust recruitment process, and in line with the appointment guidelines, Mayo GAA will be proposing Andy Moran for ratification as the new Mayo Senior Football Manager at the next meeting of the Mayo GAA County Board. Andy Moran is one of Mayo’s most decorated and respected former players. He will be supported by a backroom team of Colm Boyle and Paddy Tally."
Mayo lost both the Division 1 final and the Connacht final this year, to Kerry and Galway respectively.
