Paul Madden has taken charge of the Clare footballers on a three-year term.

Madden, who won three county titles at club level as manager of Éire Óg, replaces Peter Keane, who left his role earlier this week after managing the Banner for just one year.

Clare lost the Munster final by 11 points to All-Ireland champions Kerry earlier this year, and failed to win any of their three group stage Championship matches.

"Paul is a wonderful ambassador for Clare football and has brought sustained success to his club Éire Óg at senior level," a county statement read.

"There will be many challenges ahead, however, there is no doubt that through hard work, a positive attitude and above all a fantastic group of footballers in Clare we will meet the challenge head on," Madden added.
