Darts | Van Gerwen takes another World Grand Prix title

Michael van Gerwen leaves Citywest Hotel in Dublin tonight, £110,00 richer, having defeated Dave Chisnall 5-2 in the final of the World Grand Prix.

The Dutchman has come a considerable distance in the tournament, considering he was one set down to Jamie Hughes in the first round of the tournament, only to claw back to a 2-1 victory, before proceeding.

Having won this tournament on four previous occasions, with success in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018; today's final against Chisnall was far from a sure thing for the world number one, having being tested at times in the semi-final by Chris Dobey.

The Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton is next up on the darts calendar and an opportunity for Chisnall to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on a first major.
