Cavan GAA have confirmed that Dermot McCabe will take charge of the senior footballers.
McCabe, who played for Cavan for 15 years at senior level, is set to be ratified on a three-year term. The Gowna native, who managed Westmeath last year, replaces Raymond Galligan.
An All Star and an Ulster title winner (1997) as a player, McCabe was also an assistant coach to Mickey Graham as the county won the Ulster title in 2020. He was also part of the management team which helped Cavan to win an Ulster minor title in 2011.
"The Cavan County Board are delighted to propose Dermot McCabe as manager of the Cavan Senior Football Team on a three-year term following this evenings Cavan GAA county management meeting," a county board statement read.
"Full ratification for this appointment will be sought at the next Cavan GAA county board meeting."
