Despite hopes that he would make Sundays game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Sam Darnold will not see game time this weekend.
Darnold, who returned to non contact training this week, was awaiting results on an ultrasound of his spleen and blood test following a recent bout of mononucleosis.
However the quarterback will not feature following the return of the test results, and coach Adam Gase spoke on Friday of Darnold's reaction to the news.
“We felt like the doctors made a good suggestion yesterday to get ahead of it as far as testing him, which was probably the right call and the labs didn’t come back the way that we were hoping.
“I know Sam is disappointed, but we’re able to adjust, work quickly and our guys have done a good job with any kind of changes that we’ve had to make.”

Luke Falk, who will start in Darnold's place, will be hoping to help play his part in reversing The Jets recent fortune, having scored just one touchdown in three games.
