Tennis | Federer wins 10th Swiss Indoors title in Basel

Roger Federer has won his 10th Swiss Indoors title in Basel.

The 38-year-old beat Australian Alex de Minaur  6-2 6-2 in the final, stretching his winning run in his hometown tournament to 24 matches.

Federer's victory over de Minaur sealed his 103rd ATP title in his 157th ATP final, which leaves him just six shy of Jimmy Connors' all-time record.

Both players entered the final having won three titles this season, but de Minaur was bidding to become the first Aussie to win the event in Switzerland.

Federer - who was a ball boy at the 1993 tournament - was at his brilliant best, breaking de Minaur's serve twice in the first set.

It took the Swiss star just 34 minutes to wrap up the first set, and defeated his challenger emphatically in the second set.

"I thought Alex played a great tournament as well, and I think we both can be very happy," Federer said afterwards.

"But what a moment for me to win my 10th here in my hometown of Basel. I made very few unforced errors and came up with the big shots and served well when I had to."
